Javits Center is committed to being a good neighbor within our community. Beyond serving as an economic catalyst for New York, we work to operate in a way that positively benefits our neighborhood.
Our JavitsCares program donated nearly 350 tons of food and items in 2022 and 2023. Designed to reduce waste while benefiting our community, Javits Center donates furniture left by exhibitors and event managers so they can furnish classrooms, not landfills. Additionally, excess produce and prepackaged food that meet proper health and safety standards are donated to local organizations addressing food insecurity. Learn MoreDemand Response is an energy reduction program designed to reduce the risk of blackouts during periods of high demand on the New York City power grid. As one of the largest contributors to electricity load reduction on days where there is a shortage of electricity supply, Javits Center plays a critical role in the initiative. Historically, Javits Center has been amongst the 10 largest buildings in the city in terms of kWh that can be reduced at a single site – a particular benefit considering the Center shares a power grid with Times Square.
Javits Center has invested in infrastructure and implemented operations geared toward creating a better environment for our community. From the truck marshaling building helping to reduce emissions to the green roof absorbing rainwater runoff thereby reducing strain on the city sewers, Javits Center is committed to creating a more sustainable future for all.
