Green Roof Tours

From April to October, the Javits Center offers free tours of its 6.75-acre green roof, one of the largest of its kind in the United States! Comprised of sedum and home to 29 bird species, five bat species and thousands of honeybees, the green roof has become a sanctuary for area wildlife while helping to reduce energy consumption throughout the convention center on Manhattan’s West Side.

Tours are not provided during inclement weather due to safety concerns. If a tour should be canceled for any reason, we will notify attendees via email. Make sure to check your inbox beforehand in case there are any updates!

Tours are typically provided Monday through Friday, and the time of the tour can vary depending on our event schedule. Each tour lasts about 60 minutes, and we recommend wearing comfortable shoes and/or sneakers.

Due to the construction of our rooftop solar array this year, we only will be offering group tours by appointment. Please email Tour Manager Indira Turney at to inquire about booking an upcoming tour.
